It is only January and I am already behind.

Remember when I told you I was participating in the diabetes365 project and I would update my pictures here everyone Monday? Uh… sorry about that!

I don’t want to post the pictures all on one day and have the longest, slowest loading post ever, so here is part one!

January 4, 2010 – day 3
January 4, 2010 - diabetes365 - day 3

Grabbed this quick shot as I headed out to work this morning. It’s not often that I have a double full day (full reservior and full battery) but it’s always nice to see.

My mom and I did a little shopping when we were at the Venetian (in Vegas) during Christmas (seeing The Blue Man Group – a gift from my brother). We went into the Brighton store and they were having an after Christmas sale. I picked up this cute little clutch for 30% off. What put it over the top is the fabric pattern on the inside. So cute! I can fit the typical wallet stuff in it, and if packed carefully can fit an UltraMini, MultiClix, and a canister of strips too. The only problem is that there isn’t really a good place for the used strips so they just float around until I get home.

This week we have been having some unexpectedly cold weather down here in South Florida. I was planning to take a picture of the tarps covering the flowers to protect them from the frost (a little overkill IMHO) for my daily picture, until I was woken up a little before 5 AM by this. I am thankful that my body still wakes me up, but it would certainly be nice to have a CGMS for times like this.

I enjoy taking extreme close-up pictures of people, and just leave my finger on the shutter release and let the camera keep snapping. This is when I know I have taken too many! Or – I can’t see diabetes – diabetes can’t see me! 🙂

At my job we host an event called “Messy Games” twice a year. Pretty self-explanatory. The picture on the left is of my hands. They are covered in red and green after adding food coloring to water balloons. You obviously have to add the food coloring first so it is hard to get it in and then as you add the water it kinda bleeds everywhere. The picture on the right is me post-Games. Let’s see – I am covered in a few eggs, whipped cream, Cool Whip, peanut butter, jelly, chocolate sauce, cooking oil, and the infamous water balloons. Yum!

I took my pump off for this activity. 🙂 Basically you run as fast and as far as you can until the bungee snaps you back! Yes, this was for ‘work’. Yes, I love my job.

One of the most difficult puzzles I have ever worked on. Everything is purple or has a flower on it and the shape of a lot of the pieces don’t make sense. I’m not trying to be too corny, but I feel like life with diabetes can be like that sometimes too. Things look right or seem like a piece that fits (eating the same thing today that you ate yesterday), but then you get out your meter and realize that you are foolish and it doesn’t actually fit at all.

Please excuse the horrible resolution of this picture. I took it with my Blackberry – which you would certainly never buy for the camera! Something you don’t see too often in South Florida. They had to put tarps over the flowers here for a few days when we were hit with some ‘bitter’ cold. Now there are several Facebook groups about surviving the “Florida Freeze of 2010”!!!

Don’t you love it how cats can be doing something so naughty and look up at you with such innocent eyes?! 🙂
