Front page on World Diabetes Day

Happy World Diabetes Day!

I hope everyone has exciting plans today and is able to celebrate and wear as much blue as they are able.

I don’t like to talk too much about what I do for a living, but as I’ve mentioned before, I work at a university. Last month they turned the paper pink for one of the editions in honor of breast cancer awareness. I jokingly asked the student editor if he would be willing to turn the paper blue in November. I was thrilled to hear that he was actually excited to do a story on diabetes.

The paper is published on Mondays so it is a perfect way to celebrate today!

While I knew that he was planning a story, I didn’t know we would be the front page!

Yes, there are a few misunderstandings in the article, but overall I am very excited to have this opportunity and celebrate World Diabetes Day in this way by both bringing awareness and busting up some of the stereotypes and misconceptions.

The rest of the celebrations for today include a new blue outfit, new blue temporary hair extensions, and a dinner tonight with the other girls in the article and hopefully a few of the local JDRF reps.

Expect a post of mostly pictures tomorrow!
