Bad match:

I recently cleaned out some of my diabetes supplies and found a few things that were slightly past their prime. Some strips that were a few years old, a style of One Touch test strip I don’t even remember (when were they BLACK?!), and the BD Link for the Minimed pump (linked to pump before the OneTouch relationship, at least four years ago).

You might be a diabetes hoarder…

  • The vial of 10 strips that comes “free” with a new meter typically contains the black strips. At least, that’s what I’ve encountered!

  • Elizabeth at blogs from overseas (I forget where), and she often posts photos of her meter with a black strip in there. It’s kind of weird to see. (Oh, and I have my BD Link meter too somewhere, don’t know why I keep it! How many “backups” do I really need?)

  • I just got an Animas Ping and the meter remote came with a vial of ten black strips. Either they still make them or they gave me old strips! 🙂 I’ve been dealing with diabetes for 5 months (wow, really? five months already?) and I’m already building a “backup” meter collection. One Freestyle phased out due to a way-too-expensive test strip prescription, one soon-to-be phased out Accu-Chek Aviva, and the new OneTouch meter remote for my Ping.
