Carry On

Packing my bags for one last trip this summer. This time I am heading to Indianapolis to participate in the 4th annual Roche Social Media Summit. I am proud to have been part of this summit for the past two years and excited to represent the diabetes online community again this year.

Last year, we had the immense privilege of hearing from Jeffrey Brewer, President and CEO (and parent of a CWD) of JDRF, and Jean Claude Mbanya, President of the International Diabetes Federation.

I was proud to capture a few of their words to share with the community. To me, that is what these summits are about – figuring out ways in which the diabetes community can work together to make changes (both online and offline) around the world for people with diabetes.

I haven’t traveled without checking a bag for a few years now (admitted chronic over-packer) but due to the length of this trip, I think I can do it. Hopefully some kind gentleman will help me load my suitcase into the overhead bin. Is it too much to wish for that this guy will be on my flight again to help me out?

The hashtag for the summit is #dsummit12 if you want to follow the action on Twitter (Sunday night – Tuesday early afternoon).

Disclosure: Roche is paying for my flight, hotel, and food while at the summit. All thoughts in this post and future posts discussing the summit are entirely my own. I believe my previous reports of pharma-sponsored summits reflect this fact.
