Friends for Life 2012: First Thoughts

  • My first thought is that I need to plan my vacation timing better. I leave for a family vacation tomorrow, which does not give me enough time to process Friends for Life right now.
  • I was lucky enough to have Kim fly down a few days early to spend some time with me before we headed up to the conference. That definitely deserves a post of its own.
  • I knew we were “home” when mere moments after arriving at the conference, we were stopped by a mom who spotted our arms sites and wanted ideas on how to make those work for her daughter.
  • I had more conversations than I can count that made me want to laugh and just as many that made me want to cry.
  • There are several songs that I will never listen to the same way again.
  • Friends with diabetes are a very special thing.
  • Diabetes burnout does not care how much you know about diabetes or how good your meter averages look.
  • Scott Johnson does not fit in my car.

  • Just try to feel like you CAN’T do something while working in a booth reminding people that they CAN do it, that they ARE doing it.
  • There were so many times I just know I was in the right place at the right time, doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing, having the exact conversation I was supposed to have. It was not a coincidence, it was not an accident.
  • I have spent way too much time laughing at this GIF.

I love this post. But I might love that .gif even more. (And is it nerdy to call it a .gif, or am I supposed to call it a gif? I’m .confused.)

After just reading a sad dblog post, this one put a real smile on my face. The GIF is funny, the bullet above it is authentic. (By the way, does one pronounce GIF with a hard G, or does it sound like the peanut butter?)

  • Scott K. Johnson says:

Ha! That damn car of yours! That was maybe one of the most frustrating, and funny, moments of the trip! It’s almost as funny as the jif (see what I did there Scott E.?, No idea what is correct though…).
