A few weeks/months ago I heard my buddy Martin was going to be nearby in mid-September. While we live in the same state, we could almost not live further apart and still be within state limits. The third corner of our state triangle is Jacquie but she has been a little busy lately.
A one hour drive is much more reasonable than a six hour drive, so after a long day of work for both of us, I made the drive up to visit him.
In what may only make sense to us, we enjoyed dinner at the local Red Lobster at 9 pm (yes, we closed the place down). The carb-tasticness of the dinner was matched only by the greatness of the conversation.
We missed chatting with our friends during #dsma time, so after we finished eating we walked back to his hotel (during which Martin stepped right onto a giant slug – ew!!) to pick up the free wifi in the lobby.
I am pretty sure that the front desk staff were either highly amused or annoyed by our presence in an otherwise empty lobby, but that’s the beauty of technology. A simple internet connection can bring together in the same room a group of friends from 50 to 500 to 1500 miles apart.
