Earned it

I know there is a debate* about rewarding lab draws and other diabetes appointments with food.

BUT…

diabetes lab work

I hope we can all agree that I EARNED this one.

At least you balanced the DD with diet coke. I’m making this #dblogcheck week.

I always feel a bit awkward when I buy a frosted doughnut and a DIET Coke. It seems a bit contradictory. Do you feel the same?

The good thing is at the time you still had the arm strength to pick up and eat/drink said items. How’s the arm feeling today?

you deserve beau coup treats for sure! is that what was in the zingy yellow Freestyle bag?

And what’s in the DD bag? The coke darth doesn’t look like much of a treat.

We talked about the zingy yellow bag! It had zingy yellow stuff inside.

See? I really deserved treats! (DD bag had 2 donuts = 70 carbs in it)

Holy crap! That’s a lot of vials. I usually do Starbucks Chai and a baked good after lab work. And Caribu Coffee after my endo.

After getting that many vials taken, you deserve anything!

If I have to do fasting bloodwork, I always eat breakfast out, instead of going straight home to eat or bringing a boring granola bar with me. It almost makes it something to look forward to rather than dread!

Totally earned! Really, a debate?… huh. Had no idea. I often reward myself with anything from a coffee to a beer or just little cupcake treat following any appointment. And to Scott’s point, I don’t EVER feel awkward about ordering something sweet or sugary when having a Diet- it is what it is. I hate regular soda anyhow, but there’d never be a thought to not have it (unless I was really Low or something and there wasn’t juice available).

I don’t think I’ve ever had that much taken at one time, and you know what I’ve been through non-d-related!
