Sit for a cure

My local JDRF walk kick-off was this past weekend. I didn’t want to attend by myself, so I was very thankful when my niece agreed to go with me. You can imagine my surprise when I woke up Saturday morning with an offer from my brother for his whole family to join me instead. I am not used to doing any of this advocacy stuff with my family around yet!

We had a great time at the luncheon and even won a prize in the raffle. During the lunch we also settled on a team name. The family wasn’t too enthusiastic about my tentative selection. I asked them for help and told them I just wanted it to have my name in it somehow.

One nephew suggested “Ceratosaurus – pronounced Sara-the-saurus” but since I don’t know as much about dinosaurs as he does, I thought he was saying “Sara-thesaurus.” With a name like Sara, that would have been a pretty short book.

That idea did lead us down the dinosaur path though, which is how we settled on the official team name.

diabetes advocacy chairThe artists in the family (read: not me) are working on the logo now, but early sketches are quite promising (read: adorably hysterical).

After the kick-off luncheon, we ran some errands together including a brief visit to a local furniture store. I wish my apartment was a little bigger because I am pretty sure that I may have found the chair that belongs in the home of every diabetes advocate.

Awesome team name!!! And I so want that chair!! Blocking the sale price so we can’t see and potentially go buy it, Sara? LOL

Blocking the sale price because it was RIDICULOUS!! The chair is over $400 and the ottoman is separate. Anyway we can share the chair or get them to donate the profits to IDF?!

I loved this. Made me smile. I love the name, the furniture and the logo “Sit for a Cure.” Isn’t that perfect? I’d love to just sit mindlessly with my feet up and watch Ryan eat a whole box of anything and not worry about carbs and insulin. Ahhhh …

Digging the team name, but it also makes me think you’ll have to enter a triathlon team too.
