Best of the ‘Betes Blogs

I think one of the best parts of Diabetes Blog Week was finding blogs that I had never read before. I really wanted to keep that idea going so I emailed George to talk about bringing back an idea we had first started thinking about way back (!) in 2010.

I have seen this idea work it in other blogging communities and we are excited to bring it to the diabetes online community. ~~Each month George and I will take turns hosting the “Best of the ‘Betes Blogs” awards~~. As of February 1st, the hosting will rotate around the diabetes online community.

How does it work?

Here are the categories:

Best Use of Humor
Best Vlog
Best Recipe
Best Use of Photography
Best Advocacy
Best Reference to a D-Celebrity
Best Story of a D Meet-up
Best non-D Related Post
Best Post by a Type 1
Best Post by a Type 2
Best Post by a Type Awesome
Best Post by a LADA/ Type 1.5/ Not otherwise specified
Best story of a D-mistake
Best Motivational Post
Best Diabetes Art Category Added (Sept 2011)

As you read blogs during the month, take note of any posts that you think are a perfect example of one of the categories listed above (please no self-nominations). Email bestbetesblogs@gmail.com or send a DM to the Best of the ‘Betes Blogs twitter account (@bestbetesblogs) with your nominations.

A nomination would look something like this

Sara (include link to blog if you have one) nominates Sprinkles for the Best Story of a D-Mistake (link to the specific post you are nominating on Sprinkles’ blog)

Then on the 1st of the month visit BestBetesBlogs.com (or this page) to see the winners.
