Well, that was interesting. I received a call the first week of November from my endocrinologist’s office. I thought they were calling to confirm my appointment later that week. They were actually calling to cancel that appointment because THEY had JUST been notified that the entire practice was closing.
As indicated in the letter, this was NOT a decision made by my doctor. It actually caught most of the practice by surprise and left a lot of patients from several different doctors without access to their medical records or, in some cases, their medications (the controversy made the local papers).
Sometimes healthcare isn’t a matter of having good insurance or a good doctor, but making sure the investors are happy too.
